The Cupertino-based firm, however, did not disclose the specific number of pre-orders it received.
It said the demand for iPhone 6S Plus exceeded its forecasts for the pre-order period. Apple will begin shipping the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus from September 25.
Apple had begun pre-orders from September 12 and both the models will be available in the UK, Australia, Canada, China,
France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the US beginning September 25.
India could get the new devices during the festive season around October-November.
Last week, Apple had unveiled the new devices with enhanced features like improved cameras and 3D touch.
It had unveiled a new TV set-top box as well that responds to voice commands.
According to research firm IDC, Apple had a 14.1 per cent share of the global smartphone market with shipment of 47.5 million units during the quarter ended June. Its share has grown 34.9 per cent year-on-year in the said quarter.
