The app was created in a medical hackathon where it was programmed for medical purposes.
One of the programmers Lance Nanek, who was part of the programmers' team, said that the hospitals would benefit with this app, as they have to deal with a lot of information about patients each day.
In a report by Fox news, MedRef will help medical professionals to scan their patients face and gain a quick access to their medical history.
The doctors or nurses can also add quick voice notes to the medical information.
Though the app is primarily designed to help the medical professionals deal with large amount of data, it can also be used for areas of law enforcement, or even as a way of remembering people's contact details, the report added.
