Direct Tax collection was up by 23.5 per cent to Rs 48,192 crore (Rs 481.92 billion) till mid December, which works out to 50.4 per cent of the Budget target.
While Corporate Tax collection surged by 35.9 per cent to Rs 24,999 crore (Rs 249.99 billion), Income Tax mop up was up by 12.5 per cent to Rs 23,193 crore (Rs 231.93 billion), an official release said Friday.
The figure includes Rs 463 crore (Rs 4.63 billion) on account of tax deducted at source upto September 30.
During the first 15 days of this month, government collected Rs 5,654 crore (Rs 56.54 billion) in Direct Taxes.
