Khattar lauds Tata Nano

Jagdish Khattar, former chairman and managing director of Maruti Udyog has complimented Ratan Tata for keeping his promise of gifting India with the world's cheapest car. Tatas, on Thursday, launched the Nano, also known at 'people's car' for Rs 100,000.

Talking to private television networks Khattar said the car's performance on Indian roads would eventually tell the truth about the claims that are being made by the manufacturer.

" It is a good car but we need to test it," he said. When asked how an air conditioned car could have so low a price tag, Khattar said, "Only the Tata's can explain how they managed to achieve it."

Gopal Verma, a young businessman, said he would visit one of the Tata showrooms shortly to book the new car. "To me the new car looked good," he added.
