Tata Indicom owned by Tata Teleservices Ltd on Thursday announced the launch of 'Walky Life', a prepaid fixed wireless phone that provides lifetime validity for free incoming calls.

Reliance Infocomm had first introduced lifetime free incoming calls in fixed phone service recently.

Tata Indicom will offer the scheme at an entry cost of Rs 3,200, which includes a Walky set and lifetime incoming validity charge.

Existing customers can get lifetime offer by purchasing a Rs 1,550 validity voucher for Walky.

"The Indian telecom industry has been witnessing a tremendous growth in the prepaid category. The market response to our Walky product has been very positive and we see tremendous growth potential in this segment. With this new product we can consolidate our leadership position," company COO (East) Rajesh Puri said.

A company press statement issued in Kolkata claimed a market share of 58 per cent in the fixed wireless phone category.
