It was a dream come true for Sundar Pichai who took over as Google's new CEO on Tuesday, August 11. Pichai, who likes to keep a low profile, was flooded with congratulatory messages.
Thanking Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his wishes, Sundar Pichai said he hopes to meet Modi soon.
'@narendramodi @google Thanks for the warm wishes and hope to have the opportunity to meet you soon,' Pichai replied to a tweet by Modi in which the prime minister congratulated him on his new role.
'Congratulations @sundarpichai. My best wishes for the new role at @google,' Modi had tweeted following the announcement that Pichai will head a new and slimmer Google, which will come under a new parent company Alphabet.
Pichai's appointment comes just over a month before Modi is scheduled to visit Silicon Valley and expected to meet heads of various technology giants based there.
Pichai is only Google's third CEO after Eric Schmidt and co-founder Larry Page.
