Sterlite to raise Rs 4500 crore foreign debt

Sterlite Group would raise around Rs 4500 crore (Rs 45 billion) debt from international markets for investing in non-ferrous metals and optical fibre cable businesses in the next financial year.

A senior official of the Sterlite Group told PTI that Rs 4500 crore had been just raised from overseas capital markets following which the company got listed on the London Stock Exchange.

The official said that the group plans to appoint an arranger in this regard within the next three months.

Talking about detailed expansion plans of the zinc business, the official said that Hindustan Zinc Limited (acquired by the Sterlite Group), which had around 42 per cent market share in the country, would make significant investments in augmenting the capacities at Rampura Agucha mines and smelters.
