Altogether 1,807 farmers have submitted applications for return of their land acquired for the Tata Motors Nano project in Singur.

The plea for return of land has been made under the new Singur land Rehabilitation and Development Act enacted by the West Bengal government.

"Among them 76 submitted application forms on Monday and three on Sunday," sources in the Block Land and Land Revenue office said.

On the discrepancy in the notices put up on Saturday and Sunday at the BDO's office,

the sources said "we have rectified the earlier one."

On Saturday, an undated and unsigned notice was put up at the BDO's office while a signed and one dated July two was put up on Sunday.

The notification and the appended list of farmers on Sunday's list did not mention the 'quantum of land' allotted to the owners' that was there in the unsigned and undated one put up on Saturday.

The applications have been categoried into three -- those with clear land titles, those with disputed land titles and those who did not have valid papers.

Meanwhile, land survey in the area continued, the sources said.
