Sensex ends up 278 points at 13,897

Backed by bouyant Q4 numbers of Wipro and Satyam, the Sensex opened with a positive gap of 65 points at 13,685. All round buying in the markets saw the index turn Year-till-date positive after nearly two months.

Unabated buying in heavyweights, HDFC, Tata Steel, Reliance, Bharti, ONGC, SBI, Satyam and Reliance Communications, saw the index soar to a high of 13,916.

The Sensex finally settled with a smart gain of 278 points (2%) at 13,897. In the process, the index gained 513 points during the week.
