The Sensex closed with a smart gain of 69 points at 14,110. It had opened with a positive gap of 29 points at 14,070. The NSE Nifty closed at 4,090, up 20 points.
A pull back in cement stocks saw the index rally to a high of 14,156 in morning trades. However, selling pressure at higher levels saw the index pare gains. Early noon deals saw the buying focus shift towards metal and engineering stocks. Earlier, the index had dropped to a low of 14,044.
