Sensex closes 110 points up at 10,950

After opening 11 points higher at 10,852, the Sensex rallied to a high of 10,966, before settling with a gain of 110 points at 10,950.

Aluminium major Hindalco soared nearly 5.7% to Rs 170. FMCG gaint ITC surged over 4% to Rs 185, and Tata Power rallied 3.4% to Rs 589.

Cipla spurted 3.3% to Rs 627 after the company announced April 25 as the record date for the declared bonus issue of 3:2. Ranbaxy added 2.4% to Rs 403.

Larsen & Toubro moved up 2.2% to Rs 2,446. Tata Steel and Wipro advanced 1.7% each to Rs 493 and Rs 532, respectively.

ICICI Bank (Rs 600) and Reliance Energy (Rs 609) were up 1.5% each. Satyam spurted 1.3% to Rs 820, and TCS was up 1% at Rs 1,893.

BHEL slipped 1.6% to Rs 2,161. HDFC Bank and Dr.Reddy's were the only other notable losers among the Sensex stocks.
