The Sensex ended with a loss of 48 points at 9346. The Nifty closed 16 points lower at 2825.
NTPC up 5% at Rs 111 was the major gainer. HDFC Bank and Dr.Reddy's also posted significant gains.
On the other hand, Ranbaxy and Satyam down 3% each were the major losers.
