The Sensex has ended 26 points higher at 6,036.
The Nifty has gained 11 points to close at 1,904.
ITC zoomed 5% (Rs 62) to Rs 1,254.50 while HLL was up 2% (Rs 3) at Rs 133. Reliance plunged 2.5% (Rs 13) to close at Rs 515.
Infosys and Satyam, both were down marginally at Rs 2,023 and Rs 426, respectively. Wipro was unchanged at Rs 715.
HDFC Bank and Tata Motors gained 3% each to close at Rs 752 and Rs 457, respectively.
