Sensex ends flat at 5,930

The Sensex ended flat at 5,930. The Nifty was down three points at 1,860.

Infosys added Rs 17 to Rs 2,035. Satyam ralleid 2.5% (Rs 10) to Rs 400. Wipro was up Rs 2 at Rs 690.

Reliance shed Rs 3 to Rs 540. ITC gained Rs 3 at Rs 1,127, and HLL was up a rupee at Rs 137.

ONGC lost Rs 5 to Rs 818, and HPCL dropped Rs 2 to Rs 336.

SBI declined 1.2% (Rs 6) to Rs 490. While HDFC Bank advanced 1.3% (Rs 6) to Rs 458, ICICI Bank closed unchanged at Rs 316.

HDFC surged 4% (Rs 27) to Rs 705.

Bhel slipped 2.2% (Rs 14) to Rs 616.

Hindalco gained a rupee at Rs 1,288, and Tisco finished a rupee lower at Rs 301.

Ranbaxy slumped 3.7% (Rs 41) to Rs 1,080. Dr.Reddy's dropped over a per cent (Rs 9) to Rs 772, and Cipla ended Rs 2 lower at Rs 271.

Tata Motors slipped 1.3% (Rs 5) to Rs 424, and Maruti was down a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 374. Bajaj Auto lost Rs 4 at Rs 983, and declined Rs 2 to Rs 434.

Grasim shed 1.7% (Rs 19) to Rs 1,117, and ACC was flat at Rs 261. Gujarat Ambuja, however, gained Rs 3 at Rs 350.

While Reliance Energy was up Rs 2 at Rs 633, Tata Power was down Rs 3 at Rs 311.

The BSE TECk and FMCG indices posted gains at 1,598 and 950, respectively. The BSE Health Care index plunged 1.6% to 2,628. While the BSE Auto and PSU indices posted significant losses at 2,374 and 3,786, respectviely, the BSE BANKEX and Metal index posted marginal losses at 2,940 and 5,102, respectively.
