All round buying in the markets saw the Sensex rally 1.5% (79 points to an intra-day high of 5,377. The Sensex finally closed at 5,370 - up 72 points (1.4%). The Nifty surged 20 points (1.3%) to 1,669.
Satyam soared 2.3% (Rs 8.50) to Rs 369. Infosys rallied nearly 2% (Rs 30) to Rs 1,652. Wipro ended a rupee higher at Rs 591.
ITC surged over 2% (Rs 24) to Rs 1,104. HLL advanced 2% (Rs 2.40) to Rs 121, and Reliance was up Rs 2 at Rs 488.
Bharti Tele and Cipla gained nearly 5% each at Rs 139 and Rs 261, respectively.
