The Sensex ended with a loss of 65 points at 5,038. The Nifty declined 22 points to 1,582.
Reliance and HLL closed 2% lower at Rs 471 and Rs 106, respectively. ITC was down Rs 12 at Rs 1,006.
Tisco declined 3% to Rs 262. SBI was down 2% at Rs 433.
Bharti Tele slumped 6.4% (Rs 10) to Rs 141.50 and MTNL was down 3% at Rs 121.
Cipla shed 3.6% at Rs 237. Ranbaxy and Dr.Reddy's ended lower at Rs 909 and Rs 709, respectively.
While software and power stocks ended on a mixed note, auto and cement scrips declined today.
