The Sensex closed with a loss of 13 points at 5,937.
Infosys lost more than 2% (Rs 115) to Rs 5,354. Wipro declined Rs 29 to Rs 1,580.
ACC dropped 2% (Rs 6) to Rs 269. Grasim was also down 2% (Rs 23) at Rs 1,132. Gujarat Ambuja also slipped, but L&T gained Rs 4 to Rs 521.
Hindalco declined nearly 3% (Rs 39) to Rs 1,346.
HLL moved up Rs 2 to Rs 198. ITC was up Rs 3 at Rs 1,011, and Reliance was up a rupee at Rs 588. SBI, however, was down Rs 9 at Rs 618.
BHEL was firm right through the session, and finished with a gain of nearly 4% (Rs 22) at Rs 609. HPCL moved up 3% (Rs 13) to Rs 478.
Hero Honda added 4.6% (Rs 22) to Rs 505. Bajaj was down Rs 8 at Rs 1,010. Tata Motors was down a rupee at Rs 542.
Bharti Tele gained Rs 6 to Rs 147. ICICI Bank finished with a marginal gain at Rs 319.
