The State Bank of India SC/ST Employees Welfare Association has sought implementation of reservation while filling up major vacancies in the bank, including the posts of chairman and managing director.
The meeting of the association held in Madurai on Sunday regretted the 'step-motherly treatment given to the dalits in promotions and transfers.'
It alleged that 'anti-dalit attitude' was prevailing at several levels in the bank.
The association had not been given space for setting up an office though more than 3,000 employees were its members.
Representatives of the association were not invited for talks or even for functions, it added.
The conference resolved to appeal to the management to earmark one per cent of the profit for welfare of the SC/ST students pursuing higher education.
It demanded reservation in private sector and condemned the moves to outsource certain bank operations.Do you want to discuss stock tips? Do you know a hot one? Join the Stock Market Investments Discussion Group
