Samsung India is targeting doubled washing machine sales to 70,000 units during the first two months of 2004 and has launched a promotion scheme from Monday, entailing Rs 3 crore (Rs 30 million) investment, to realise this ambitious sales target.
The company invested Rs 12 crore (Rs 120 million) last year in boosting its washing machines lineup and strengthened it further by launching new fully-automatic models with 'i control' feature. The latest promotional offering is geared at further boosting sales of this category, a senior company official said in New Delhi.
"In the second half of 2003 we had strengthened our washing machine product lineup...now with this promotion we are seeking to add to the excitement around this product category, specially during the high-selling winter period," Samsung India director R Zutshi told PTI.
He said: "This promotion commences today and we expect sales of 70,000 units during the promotion period which ends late next month."
During the promotion period, every purchase will entitle the customer to a sealed game card which will then lead him to a puzzle. Among the gifts to be won include a frost free refrigerator, microwave oven, a gift hamper and the mega prize -- Santro Xing car.
Zutshi said the promotion was being launched on an all-India basis.
