I-T department teams started visiting offices of Sahara in Maharashtra, Gujarat and West Bengal and some other places to get information on account holders and depositors, sources said.
Sahara operates its para banking through 1700 branches across the country and the survey was conducted in over 74 branches in a sample manner, sources said.
Sahara officials could not be contacted for comments. Sources, however, said Income Tax department in Uttar Pradesh had not initiated any action till mid-day on Friday.
