Expanding its international network, private carrier Air Sahara on Friday announced it would launch its Delhi-Singapore service on May 11 and the Chennai-Kuala Lumpur flight on June 15, with an introductory return fare of only Rs 10,000 on both sectors.

The airline has already inducted three new generation Boeing aircraft into its fleet and three more will be coming in by June, Rono J Dutta, Air Sahara CEO told PTI.

While four of these aircraft would be B 737-700s and 800s for both domestic and international operations, two B-737-400 Classics to be used on the domestic routes, Dutta said.

He said the domestic route network has also expanded with the addition of Srinagar, Coimbatore and Vishakhapatnam.

The airline would launch its two weekly flights to London by the end of this summer and hoped to expand the number of these services to daily from the winter schedule starting September-October this year.

Affected by the exodus of pilots, the Air Sahara CEO said the airline had lost 20 trained pilots to Air India Express, SpiceJet and Kingfisher Airlines in the recent past and asked the airlines to train their pilots and not carry out poaching.

"We have taken legal recourse. We would rather encourage all other carriers to train their pilots and not poach on their competitors," Dutta said.

He said the company has already moved the court against the two private carriers and was contemplating doing so against low-cost public sector airline Air India Express, which launched its first flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Abu Dhabi on Friday.

While eleven pilots had been taken in by AI Express, nine have gone to the two yet-to-be-launched private carriers.
