A total of Rs 3,784 crore (Rs 37.84 billion) has been received as foreign donations by various non-government organisations (NGOs) across India during 2013-14, Lok Sabha was informed.
Rs 360 crore (Rs 3.60 billion) has been received as foreign donations by 367 NGOs in Delhi, Rs 356 crore (Rs 3.56 billion) by 594 NGOs in Karnataka, Rs 347 crore (Rs 3.47 billion) by 812 NGOs in West Bengal and Rs 125 crore (Rs 1.25 billion) by 539 NGOs in Odisha.
The Minister said that in 2012-13, Rs 10,963 crore (Rs 109.63 billion) has been received by voluntary agencies in the country while in 2011-12, Rs 11,554 crore (Rs 115.54 billion) has been received by NGOs as foreign donations.
