"The 'sachet concept' prepaid reloading service has been made possible by E-Recharge gateway, which will make cellular services more affordable and accessible to a broader market of cell phone users and increase rural cellular density," a senior RIM official said on Wednesday.
The customers can now recharge for as low as Rs 10 up to Rs 994 for as many times as they want to, he said.
The facility which was test-marketed in the last couple of months across the country, is the outcome of a Reliance study, which revealed that nearly 20 to 25 per cent of four crore prepaid subscribers, delay recharging their mobile phones toward the month end, waiting for their salaries to get credited, he said.
The scheme is a replication of the success of sachet concept in consumer goods industry and is now being used in the telecom industry, he said.
