Contrary to a lot of speculation reported in certain sections of media, Reliance Energy on Tuesday clarified that customer do not have to pay any charge for replacing the meters damaged by rains.

"The MERC Supply Code authorises the distribution company to recover cost of meter replacement arising out of lost or burnt meters. However, in such extraordinary circumstances, where the meters have got damaged due to heavy rains or water logging, there will be no charge levied on any customer for such replacement," confirmed the Reliance Energy spokesperson.

Further Reliance Energy appealed to the citizens to observe patience while its workforce continues to be on field for the fifth consecutive day- working day and night to ensure a safe and speedy restoration of power.

While the restoration work continues round-the-clock, Reliance Energy's 24-hour PowerHelp at 3030 3030 is also available to help citizens.
