Union Bank of India on Wednesday reported a 28.83 per cent jump in net profit for the year ended March 31, 2004 at Rs 712.05 crore (Rs 7.12 billion) as compared to Rs 552.69 crore (Rs 5.53 billion) in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Total income for 2003-04 rose by 4.23 per cent at Rs 5,347.77 crore (Rs 53.48 billion) against Rs 5,130.73 crore (Rs 51.31 billion) in 2002-03, the bank informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
During the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2004, the net profit grew by 17.07 per cent at Rs 236.26 crore (Rs 2.36 billion) against Rs 201.84 crore (Rs 2.02 billion) in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
Total income during Q4 fell by 2.91 per cent at Rs 1,441.09 crore (Rs 14.41 billion) as compared to Rs 1,484.38 crore (Rs 14.84 billion) in Q4 of 2002-03, the bank said.
