Rediff.com said on Thursday it would focus on providing regional user-generated content on 'ishare.rediff.com', its new multimedia video channel.
This would help in overcoming the mindset that multimedia content on Internet is only in English and would provide a platform where regional users could share rich multimedia regional content, Manish Agarwal, vice president-marketing told reporters in Chennai on Thursday.
"The regional channel on 'ishare' will give users a platform to express themselves in audio visual format and participate in forming local communities which are bonded through common passion and interests," he said.
Rediff had done a study which showed that there was a need for more services with regional languages capabilities, Agarwal said.
"This would improve internet usage which is at present restricted because of limited services designed to cater to the needs of the masses," he said.
