Dr Reddy's gets USFDA nod for glimepiride

Hyderabad based Dr Reddy's Laboratories has received approval from the US Food and Drugs Administration for multiple strengths of anti-diabetes drug glimepiride tablets.

According to information available on the USFDA website, glimeperide is available in stengths of 1 mg, 2 mg and 4 mg. The drug is a generic version of Sanofi-Aventis' Amaryl.

Dr Reddy's has also recieved tentative approval from the USFDA for anti-cholesterol drug pravastatin sodium tablets in multiple strengths. The drug is a generic version of Bristol-Myers Squibb Co's Pravachol.
