Students are known to gift chocolates, roses, and greeting cards on Teacher's Day, which started way back in 1962.

But Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company has given a new meaning to guru dakshina, the gift given to one's guru for the teaching imparted.

The private insurance company, together with Pan Insurance Brokerage, on Friday launched a special personal accident insurance package for teachers Gururaksha on the occasion of Teacher's Day.

Now they gift their teachers/guru a personal accident policy. This will cover all risks associated with the profession like loss of voice, injuries that might professionally incapacitate the policyholder, including termination of employment on medical grounds.

This is the first cover of its kind targeted exclusively at teachers includes lecturers, readers, professors, and trainers of physical education, music and dance, etc. The policy can be gifted by the students or bought directly by the mentor.

For an annual premium varying between Rs 500 to Rs 2,000 under the silver, gold and platinum plans, entitles the policyholder to comprehensive personal accident cover and hospital cash, plus other toppings which are not included in a base personal accident policy.
