Besides offering the popular AMT mechanism in Celerio, Maruti is gradually introducing this technology in many of its cars with Alto K10 and Ertiga already bestowed with the same while S-Cross and Swift duos will soon be getting the same treatment.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio will now come equipped with ABS and airbags for all its variants, thanks to the new enhancements introduced by the country’s largest passenger car maker.
This means that even the base version of the car will get the same facility which should auger well with most users looking to buy an economical car with a decent amount of safety features.
Launched back in 2014, Maruti Suzuki Celerio was the first to come with AMT technology which enhanced its popularity and allowed the carmaker to sell over 1.3 lakh units of it since its debut.
With the new addition of features like airbags and ABS, Maruti Suzuki Celerio is now priced at Rs 416,000 (ex-Showroom, Delhi).
The Executive Director of Marketing and Sales for Maruti Suzuki India, R S Kalsi stated that the company has always strived to provide its customers with some of the best features and offering safety aspects like airbags and ABS for the base variants is also an attempt to provide the same.
He further said that the company is really glad to have been able to provide these features far ahead of its regulations.
There are a lot of other features that make Maruti Suzuki Celerio one of the most stand-out cars in the segment.
Celerio is the first car in its segment to have the luxury of three fuel options for the motor including Diesel, Petrol and CNG.
As far as the petrol motor is concerned, Maruti Suzuki Celerio comes with a 1 litre, 3 cylinder engine that generates 67hp at 6000rpm along with 90Nm of torque at 3500rpm.
The car was also launched in the diesel avatar this year. The diesel motor is backed by 800cc which delivers a much lower 47hp at 3500rpm while producing 125Nm torque at 2000rpm.
The car is also the highest fuel efficient diesel car in the country. All these engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission system whereas the 4 speed AMT version is available only with the petrol variant.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio is pretty neat as far as performance is concerned with the vehicle reaching the 100kmph mark from 0kmph in 15.05 seconds.
The car can reach a maximum speed of 150kmph which is also quite impressive for a compact hatch.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio is certainly a runaway success in the segment and a pioneer of the much appreciated automated manual transmission system, which is becoming popular with each passing day.
The small hatch still clocks around 6500 units per month and is one of the top 10 selling products from Maruti’s stable.
Besides offering the popular AMT mechanism in Celerio, Maruti is gradually introducing this technology in many of its cars with Alto K10 and Ertiga already bestowed with the same while S-Cross and Swift duos will soon be getting the same treatment.
Currently, Maruti Suzuki Celerio price in India starts at Rs. 400,000 (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and competes with Hyundai i10 in the segment.
