Hyundai Creta is the best looking SUV in 2015, should S-Cross worry?

December 03, 2015 14:21 IST

Hyundai Creta has emerged as one of the best looking four wheelers and certainly the best looking compact SUV in 2015 and that has worked remarkably in their favour as far as sales is concerned.

Hyundai Creta has emphatically been the popular choice among the compact SUV lovers and the major reason behind the car's immaculate success is its fabulous and head-turning appearance.

Based on what we have seen in the automobile industry in the last few years, if you do not have the looks, whether it is the hatchback category, SUV, compact SUV or sedan, you can consider the car to get extinct very soon.

Aesthetics and design are an integral part of the automobile industry especially if you want to attract the young demographics of India.

That is exactly what the likes of Hyundai and Ford have banked on in the past with vehicles like Creta and Ecosport respectively. No matter how fuel efficient or even performance oriented a vehicle is, it always gives a car that extra edge when it is easy on the eyes.

Hyundai Creta has emerged as one of the best looking four wheelers and certainly the best looking compact SUV in 2015 and that has worked remarkably in their favour as far as sales is concerned.

However, the competitors for Creta were many and one of them was Maruti S-Cross which was another highly anticipated SUV released around the same time.

In fact, Maruti had to reschedule the release of S Cross earlier than Creta as they feared the latter would eat into its potential market share which did end up happening.

However, Maruti may have an answer to the beautiful Hyundai Creta in the form of Maruti Vitara.

The fabulous looking compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki is doing quite well in the European market as far as sales is concerned.

It would be interesting to see how the two compact SUVs would be faring against each other with Maruti Vitara all set to come to the Indian market whereas Hyundai Creta will be heading for Europe.

In a way, Maruti Vitara would be following the same principle that Hyundai Creta followed being a smaller version of a premium and more successful larger SUV.

Hyundai Creta is based on the popular Santa Fe and Maruti Vitara is based on the Grand Vitara that currently is priced over Rs 200,00,00.

The hefty price tag can be attributed to the non-local manufacturing of the car. However, in order to make sure that Maruti Vitara competes well against Hyundai Creta, the former would be locally manufactured which would allow it to keep the car competitively priced. It is almost certain that Vitara would also be coming through the Nexa dealership.

As far as engine is concerned, Maruti Vitara looks quite solid and reliable with Fiat's 1.6 litre MultiJet also dubbed as DDiS320 which is something that we have also come across with Maruti S-Cross.

As a result, the numbers generated are impressive as well with the power churned out being 120PS whereas torque twisted is 320Nm.

The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission system which should smoothen things up under traffic intensive environment.
