Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd have restarted their Mumbai-based refineries, which were partially shut following incessant rains.

One of the two crude distillation units, which was put on "circulation" on July 26 due to excessive flooding was switched on Thursday resuming normal production, BPCL officials said in Mumbai on Friday.

BPCL has two crude distillation units of 4.5 MMT capacity each.

It has put one unit on "circulation" and the other was functioning normally.

The HPCL refinery, which was shut on July 25 due to heavy rains and flooding, has started its crude processing and production would resume in 48 hours, company officials said.
