Pay Rs 300 crore to remain on parole: SC to Roy

The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed Sahara chief Subrata Roy to deposit Rs 300 crore (Rs 3 billion) by September 16, to remain on parole.

The Supreme Court had earlier extended the parole granted to Roy on humanitarian grounds till August 3 following the death of his mother, with a strict condition that he will have to deposit Rs 300 crore, out of the Rs 500 crore (Rs 5 billion) promised by him.

He was released on May 6 for four weeks after his mother’s demise.
