Swraj Paul upbeat on investments in TN

Observing that there was vast potential for British investment in Tamil Nadu, its Business Ambassador Lord Swraj Paul on Thursday promised full help to facilitate creation of recreation and fashion industries in the state.

"It is time to start looking at Chennai as a good investment destination," the leading NRI industrialist told PTI after a 20-minute meeting with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at the secretariat in Chennai.

The Chief Minister mentioned about various business opportunities in Tamil Nadu for British entrepreneurs, Lord Paul, chairman of the Caparo Group, said extending full support to facilitate exchange between British trade and industry and the state.

"The talks were mainly to explore possibilities of greater and mutual cooperation for the development of Tamil Nadu," he said, adding there were several opportunities for cooperation.

He said suggestions and ideas exchanged at the meeting would be conveyed to the concerned authorities once he was back in London.

The idea of the meeting, which he described as a "courtsey call", was also to discuss how Britain and Tamil Nadu could further co-operation.
