Twenty-two Indian e-governance projects were declared winners of the Oracle Excellence in e-Governance awards at the Oracle Open World in Mumbai.
The 22 award-winning projects included Andhra Pradesh government's the rural e-Seva project, e-Panchayat and the land record management information system (LR-MIS), IT in judiciary, the customs department, the passport division and the computer-aided Administration of the Registration Department (CARD), among others.
The e-governance projects in collaboration with the Government of India (GoI) were a significant revenue stream for Oracle in India, Oracle Asia-Pacific executive vice president Derek Williams said.
Currently, Oracle and GoI are engaged in 50 joint projects in the e-governance sphere.
"e-governance is a stated strategic business area for Oracle India and our investments here include the e-governance centre of excellence and a dedicated government business unit with industry experts to provide solutions development and consulting services to government users," informed Williams.
Oracle is working in partnership with e-governance front-runner in India, the National Informatics Centre and "our awards recognise the e-governance projects which are not only exemplary for their effectiveness in India but they also meet global standards of government work-flow automation and citizen services delivery," Williams added.
The projects were assessed by Skoch Consultancy Services and judged by an eminent panel of judges including Dr D B Phatak, IIT, Mumbai and Executive Director Ernet India Dr Gulshan Rai.
The awards were presented to the winners by Mr Williams and National Informatics Centre Director-General Dr N Vijayaditya.
