Confusion prevailed in the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday over a sudden rise in Oil and Natural Gas Corp share price to Rs 1,480, against the last close of Rs 1,256.95.
The share price of ONGC closed at Rs 1276.75, a jump of Rs 21.85.
According to marketmen, the movement of ONGC at BSE does not seem to be normal and an error was not ruled out.
The price rise happened for a fraction of a second, even though the behaviour of the scrip was normal.
The share, having heaviest weight on the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty, remained normal and moved between Rs 1,285 and Rs 1,255.
The counter attracted a business in 10.50 lakh (1.05 million) shares on both the bourses and four block deals on the BSE.
