R S P Sinha has been appointed Chairman and Managing Director of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd with immediate effect.
Sinha had joined MTNL in April 2002 as Director (Finance) but took charge as the acting CMD on November 1, 2003 after Narinder Sharma retired from the top slot of the profit-making PSU.
In his capacity as acting CMD, Sinha was instrumental in a number of expansion and consolidation programmes including modernisation of cellular infrastructure of the Corporation.
