Should IT cos hire more women?

February 09, 2007 11:42 IST

India's booming IT sector is dominated by men. While the ratio of men to women was 76:24 in 2005, it is likely to be 65:35 in 2007.

While the number of women in IT firms is rising, it is still not impressive. A good majority of the leadership positions are held by men.

IT companies are now coming up with several friendly measures to hire more women.

Nasscom has announced it would institute awards for companies to recognise outstanding practices promoting gender empowerment and urged HR practices to be made moreconducive for women.

What are your views on hiring more women in IT firms? Do you think that there should be more women at top management level?
