Mphasis Q4 profit up 23%

Mphasis BFL has reported a 23 per cent jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 30.96 crore (Rs 309.6 million) for the quarter ended March 31, 2005 as compared to Rs 25.12 crore (Rs 251.2 million) for the quarter ended March 31, 2004.

According to a release issued by the company to the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday, consolidated revenue increased from Rs 160.26 crore (Rs 1.60 billion) in Q4 FY04 to Rs 206.92 crore (Rs 2.06 billion) for the quarter ended March 31, 2005.

The group has posted a 26.41 per cent spurt in consolidated net profit to Rs 124.61 crore (Rs 1.24 billion) for the year ended March 31, 2005 as compared to Rs 8.57 crore (Rs 85.7 million) for the year ended March 31, 2004.

The revenue increased from Rs 595.20 crore (Rs 5.95 billion) in FY 04 to Rs 772.86 crore (Rs 7.72 billion) for the year ended March 31, 2005.

Mphasis, on a stand-alone basis, has posted a 18.44 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 21.32 crore (Rs 213.2 million) for the quarter ended March 31, 2005 as compared to Rs 18 crore (Rs 180 million) for the quarter ended March 31, 2004.

Its revenue decreased from Rs 66.13 crore (Rs 661.3 million) in Q4 04 to Rs 58.29 crore (Rs 582.9 million) for the quarter ended March 31, 2005.

The company has reported a 44 per cent drop in net profit to Rs 50.17 crore (Rs 501.7 milllion) for the year ended March 31, 2005 as against Rs 89.76 crore (Rs 897.6 million) for the year ended March 31, 2004.

The revenue declined from Rs 268.29 crore (Rs 2.68 billion) in FY04 to Rs 253.39 crore (Rs 2.53 billion) for the year ended March 31, 2005.

The board has proposed a final dividend of Rs 3 per equity share of Rs 10 each in addition to the interim dividend of Rs 1.50 per equity share ( Rs 3 per share paid last year).

The board has also recommended a bonus issue of one equity share for every existing equity share.

Commenting on the results, Jerry Rao, Chairman and CEO, said, "As we approach our fifth anniversary as a group, we can look back with pride at what we have achieved in this period. Our IT business has grown at a healthy rate and we have expanded our portfolio of services as well as our geographic footprint besides increasing our headcount substantially."

"In BPO, we have grown exponentially backed by our first mover advantage and are among the leaders in the industry. The year ahead will be one of consolidation on the back of our recent acquisitions, which have expanded our scale and depth of offerings," he added.
