Microsoft kicks off e-governance seminars

IT company Microsoft Corporation India on Tuesday flagged off a series of five-city e-governance seminars, targeted at bureaucrats and government officials.

"Targeted at bureaucrats and government officials, the seminars will be conduced across the states of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Orissa and West Bengal," a Microsoft media release said.

The seminars are aimed at creating awareness on the benefits of IT adoption in the governance process with sharing of benchmark IT applications as well as best practices for e-governance.

"The daylong seminars will be a melange of interactive sessions by Microsoft Technology experts for e-governance and independent industry experts coupled with a products and solutions showcase by partners," the release said.

Some key e-governance applications running on Microsoft Technologies include National Crime Records Bureau application for the Indian police and other law enforcement agencies, Bhoomi - Land Records Management System for the Government of Karnataka, amongst others.
