The Regional Transport Office in Madurai has received clearance from the government for allowing Maruti Omni van owners to use LPG cylinders to run their vehicles.
Under the norms, the central government should have recognised a particular model of the four-wheeler for fitting LPG cylinder, and only licensed mechanic should fix the LPG cylinder, brought from a recognised agent, according to Jayabal, Regional Transport Officer.
