Even as Tatas owned Videsh Sanchar Nigam has challenged Telecom Regulatory Authority's order on reduction in international bandwidth prices, the government on Friday said there was further scope to bring the price down.

"I have been requesting the TRAI to reduce international rates and though it has announced about a month back, more needs to be done," Communication and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran said in New Delhi.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Earth Day celebrations, he welcomed Trai's announcement to reduce domestic bandwidth prices by upto 70 per cent but emphasised that international leased line prices need to be reduced.

Earlier, releasing a special cover to mark the occasion, Maran lauded India-Post's initiative taken towards environment conservation and hoped "with its vast reach, India-Post can make a significant difference to the environment even in the remotest rural hamlets".
