LG Electronics India Ltd on Monday said it was targeting about Rs 300 crore (Rs 3 billion) revenues from the sale of GSM handsets in Indian market this year.
"We are targeting sales of at least 500,000 GSM handsets in India this year. As of now we are ahead of our monthly targets and so when we approach the half year mark, we could revise upwards these targets to 700,000 units for the year," Anil Arora, head marketing, LGEIL told PTI in New Delhi.
LG is targeting about Rs 300 crore revenues from the sale of GSM handsets in Indian market this year, Arora pointed out.
The company currently has six GSM handset models in India including G1500 blue-light phone dubbed Shine, which is available in the market for about Rs 5,995.
All the other five models are colour phones. It has G3100 model dubbed Friend, available at a price of Rs 7,500, while G5300 model Blush comes at a price tag of about Rs 8,900.
LG's G5400 Flavour model is priced at about Rs 13,000, while G7030 Flair model with dual colour LCD screen is available for Rs 14,000.
LG also has a unique camera phone dubbed Imagine in the Indian market, which comes with a built in flash and supports a 270-degree rotation.
According to Praveen Valecha, product group head, LG GSM phones, the company is looking at launching six more models in the next three months.
"As of now, we have bar and folder handsets and we will be launching slide models as well," Valecha said.
He said that LG was aiming at a leadership position in the colour phone category.
