A month after IBM sold off its PC business to Lenovo Group, its shareholders approved the company's acquisition of IBM's personal-computer division on Thursday.

At an extraordinary general meeting, the shareholders gave their approval for the deal, which would make Lenovo the world's third-largest PC maker, from being the eighth largest PC maker in the world.

In a $1.75 billion deal signed in December 2004, IBM had sold off its PC business to Lenovo.
