"If anyone wants to set up a private employment exchange, we have provisions for it," Labour Minister Sahib Singh Verma said during the Question Hour.
He said currently about 4.16 crore (41.6 million) people were registered in employment exchanges in the country, out of which 56 per cent were shown as unemployed, 32 per cent as those who have jobs but would like a new job and 12 per cent students.
He said there were 353 employment exchanges set up by states and 246 by the Centre.
He said the employment exchange data does not give the complete picture of unemployment in the country.
At present, 363 out of 939 employment exchanges have been computerised, he said.
