The overall net employment outlook for the quarter revealed India has an overall outlook of 43 per cent. This is the highest in the world followed by Hong Kong at 27 per cent and Japan at 24 per cent.
This is the strongest positive net employment outlook recorded since the inception of the survey in the country in June 2005, according to Manpower India, one of the country's largest recruitment firms, which conducted this survey. The survey covered 4,550 employers in the country.
The net employment outlook demonstrates an increase of 3 percentage points over the previous quarter and 9 percentage points on a year-on-year basis.
The outlook is derived by taking the percentage of employers anticipating total employment to increase, and subtracting it by the percentage expecting to see a decrease in employment at their location in the next quarter.
The industry sectors covered were finance, insurance, real estate, manufacturing, mining, construction, public administration, education, services, transportation and utilities, and wholesale and retail trade.
Employers in the north region of the country anticipated the strongest hiring for the upcoming quarter with a net employment outlook of 49 per cent, while employers in both the east and south regions were less optimistic with an outlook of 42 per cent.
The hiring intentions in the west followed closely at 41 per cent, indicating a stable market in this region.
On a year-on-year basis, employers all over the country have predicted high hiring intentions ever since the survey was established in India last year, with only the south having a higher net employment outlook during the fourth quarter of 2005 and the second quarter of 2006.
Of the 1,171 employers surveyed in the north, 51 per cent felt there would be an increase in hiring tendencies, while only 2 per cent felt there would be a decrease.
A little over a third of the employers felt that there would be no change in hiring intentions, while 13 per cent were unsure about their hiring plans, according to the survey.Find the job you want! Click here!
