Comodo, the United Kingdom-based IT infrastructure and security solutions firm, on Tuesday said it was setting up its biggest product development centre and sales team in Chennai, employing 1,000 people over the next 12 months.
The company's team for direct sales, tele-sales and Web-sales for the Asia Pacific region would also be based in Chennai, David Tranter, executive vice-president (sales) of Trustix, a Comodo company, said at a press conference in Chennai.
Comodo, which started its Indian operations from Chennai recently, employs about 200 people now. "We will increase the (employee) numbers to 1,000 by the end of this year," he said.
The company plans to add more people in India and the head count could touch 4,000 in 3-4 years' time, Tranter said. "India will be the power house of our global operations," he said.
Comodo's total staff strength across the globe was 712 and the Indian operations would become its biggest in terms of the number of employees in the next one year.
The Manchester-based company, which develops a broad range of critical infrastructure for Internet and telecommunications network, would be setting up a big team for the product development in Chennai.
