Following on the footsteps of Indian Airlines, two leading private carriers Jet Airways and Air Sahara on Monday announced increase in fares in all sectors by 12 per cent from April 15 on account of a major hike in the prices of aviation turbine fuel.

Air Sahara officials, however, said the prices of tickets purchased under the special schemes like advance purchase (APEX) have not yet been increased.

The domestic ATF price has risen from Rs 27,250 per kilolitre to Rs 32,250 from April one. Jet fuel prices amount to almost 30 to 40 per cent of the actual cost of operations.
