Expressing his desire to go international, Jet Airways chairman Naresh Goyal on Monday said his airlines, if given permission, was ready to fly to Southeast Asian countries and earn valuable foreign exchange for the country.
"An application is pending before the civil aviation ministry but whether permission will be sanctioned will depend on the government's policy," he said in Washington where he is attending an International Air Transport Association (IATA) meeting.
The airline is celebrating 10 years of successful operations in India.
He said India has 60 to 70 per cent unutilised routes and Jet Airways would be happy to obtain a part of that for its own benefit as well as that of the country.
Jet Airways had carried 6.4 million passengers last year earning revenue of Rs 3,000 crore (Rs 30 billion) out of which 30 to 35 per cent represented foreign exchange earnings, he said.
Goyal admitted Jet Airways' revenues, too, dipped a little last year owing to dip in traffic but it was able to stabilise its earnings with the introduction of Apex fares (i.e. advance booking at concessional rates).
He announced that Superapex fares would be offered from June 16 this year.
