US-based BMC Software Inc will acquire the assets of Magic Solutions, a provider of help desk and related software, from Network Associates Inc for about $47 million in cash.
The acquisition would also result in BMC Solutions acquiring Magic Solutions' Research and Development operations in Bangalore, which employs around 31 people, a BMC Software press release said on Tuesday.
The company plans to keep the Bangalore operations of Magic Solutions "intact", it added.
The takeover would strengthen BMC Software's position in the IT service management market by increasing its reach to small- and medium-sized organisations, which were being serviced by Magic Solutions, senior vice-president (operations) Jeff Hawn was quoted as saying.
