Infosys has no plan to open any new development centre in the near future, according to Nandan Nilekani, CEO, president and managing director, Infosys Technologies Ltd.

"Some state governments have approached us to open new facilities in their states. As of now, we have no plan to open any new centre. We will continue with our 9 development centres," he told reporters on the sidelines of a forum discussion organised by Infosys and CNBC-TV 18.

Some state governments like Rajasthan and West Bengal had recently said that Infosys was planning to set up centres in their respective states.

"We have a committee in our company which looks into such matters. We will study all the options and will look at these places when we plan to expand," Nilekani said.

He said that Infosys' Chandigarh centre would start operating in the next few months.

When asked whether the company was considering buying GE's business process outsourcing operations in India, Nilekani denied any such move.
